Become a Classroom Hero

Heroes in the Classroom volunteers are positive adult role models who spend time in local classrooms supporting students and teachers. Volunteers may read with students, help with classroom activities, share age appropriate stories about service and community, assist with projects, encourage students, and be a kind, steady presence in the room.

Each volunteer is matched with a classroom based on school needs, availability, and program approval. The goal is not to replace teachers, but to support them and help students build positive connections with trusted members of the community.

All volunteers are required to complete an application before being considered for classroom placement. Depending on the school, district, or classroom assignment, additional requirements may apply.

Volunteers may be asked to complete a background check, follow school and classroom policies, communicate with the program coordinator, and commit to being a positive and respectful role model for students.

Ready to get started? Download the volunteer application below, complete it, and submit it through the form on this page.
